Chalice Bearers help with the administration of Holy Communion. They assist not only in a practical sense, but are also a visible sign that the work and ministry of the church is one shared by all clergy and lay people together.
Lectors
Lectors are people trained to read lessons from the Bible and to lead prayers during services. Our current Lectors include:
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is an honored and sacred work performed by dedicated parishioners whose main objective is to prepare the altar for the worship services of the Church. Their work does not end there however, but includes the care and maintenance of linens, vestments, and all other objects and elements used for orconsecrated to the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Altar Guild members are divided into teams which work on a rotating schedule.
Altar Guild work itself can be considered an oblation, a loving labor offered to God, not merely a chore that someone must accomplish.
Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry is dedicated to helping those in need in the local and global community both financially and through personal involvement.
The St. John’s Prayer Chain is a daily ministry of prayer conducted by members of the parish which seeks to bind the community together on behalf of anyone in need of intercession through prayer. The structure of the chain is designed to insure that a known need is constantly being prayed for .
Nursery
Our Nursery provides Sunday child care for toddlers through pre-Kindergarten and an opportunity for them to play and socialize with other children in the congregation.
Nursery hours are from 9:45 a.m. to the end of the 11 a.m. service. The Nursery is also available during special church functions.
