What is an Episcopalian and what do we believe?

What do we believe?

Without exception…

  • We believe Jesus is the Begotten Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary.
  • We believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, God’s presence within us.
  • We believe in the forgiveness of sins; yes, even your sin.
  • We believe Jesus lived among us, teaching the Gospel to others.
  • We believe Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection saved the world.
  • We believe the Bible is the Word of God and that sharing the Gospel is a visible sign of God's love for others.

How do we worship

A key feature of the Episcopal church is that, though we are individual churches, we all follow the Book of Common Prayer, which defines the order and prayers for worship.  Worship includes readings from the Old and New Testaments, the psalms, a Gospel reading, a Homily (sermon), recitation of the Nicene or Apostles Creed, ““Passing of the Peace,” and prayers of the people.  Once each month, we share the Eucharist (communion) together.  We are casual but are respectful of our long-held traditions and the Word of the Lord.

Are there services for me?

Episcopalians are friendly, caring, and compassionate, and we welcome all, as Christ would.  We respect the dignity of every person and treat everyone as a member of our community.  All are welcome here.

Men and women both serve as bishops, priests, and deacons, and we encourage all to participate in the leadership of the church and to assist with the worship services.  We excitedly welcome visitors.  We believe God loves you--no exceptions.
